Hi Everyone,
I know of a very cool dog in need of a home, and I thought, since hundreds of people visit my blog in Vancouver every day, maybe one of you might be able to help! Here's the story, and if you know anyone interested, please email me right away!
Thanks!
Here's his story (Margie Fox has him, and has written this about him - I'll put you in contact with her if you are interested)..
We’re looking for a forever home for a 2 year old purebred Doberman. We’ve been fostering Diesel for the last few weeks because, through no fault of his own, his previous owners couldn’t keep him. Diesel is a beautiful dog who always gets compliments when out for a walk or at the dog park. He’s approx. 85 lbs without an ounce of fat on him. He’s very powerful and energetic! He is neutered.
He’s wonderful with other dogs, whether on or off-leash. He loves to play with other dogs, but small dogs might not be a good idea because of his size and strength. Diesel has spent most of his adult life either in a crate or outdoors. We’ve had him indoors with us and our two dogs for the last few weeks and he loves it! He’s settled into our routine pretty easily. He loves to be with people so he will NOT be an outdoors dog again. He follows us around the house and LOVES to get hugs and snuggles! He’s currently allowed up on furniture and he thinks he’s a lap dog!
We’ve been teaching him proper etiquette for indoors (e.g. no eating off kitchen counters!) but he’ll still need some help with that. Diesel is very smart and has lots of potential for further training. He knows the following commands already: sit, down, stay, shake a paw. He comes when called (most of the time!) and he knows to drop the ball when playing fetch.
Diesel is great with kids but would do better with older kids. The reasons: a) his size; b) older kids can help with the responsibilities of this dog.
We think that Diesel would do well
as either the only dog in the house or with an older, calmer dog to balance out
his high energy. Diesel will need a lot of time and effort dedicated to
exercise and training. He needs a family who has experience with large dogs and
who lives an active life. He is not ideal for a first-time dog owner. Also, it
would be great if his new owners didn’t work long hours because he gets
bored when left alone toooo long. He’s currently left alone (with our two
dogs) for an average of 7 hours a day.
We will be searching long and hard for the perfect family for Diesel because he is an awesome dog who really deserves an awesome family. If you are interested in meeting Diesel, please email Kari and she will put you in touch with me. Please note we are asking for a $200 donation to the Richmond Animal Protection Society as an adoption fee. This will include his crate, some food, rain jacket, toys, dishes, and his bed.
Thank you!

Did you find him a home?

Congratulations on giving this dog the care and attention he deserves. Good luck on your search for the perfect home for him. I have 2 rescues (80lbs and 50lbs) that have made quite a difference in our home. What a little training and attention will do....
